Nauvoo (Part 2)

My favorite part of Nauvoo was the Temple. It is an amazing temple and is visually stunning. The neat thing about the Temple is that you can see it from just about everywhere you are in historic Nauvoo. I can only imagine what it must have looked like back in the 1840's. Tasha and I got to attend seperate sessions while the other stayed with the kids. It was pretty impressive to walk out of the Temple and see the whole city of Nauvoo laid out in front of you, wrapped around by the Mississippi River. I am sure Tasha got tired of me stopping to take so many pictures - here are a few.

This one is probably my favorite. It was taken from Parley Street - where the saints crossed the Mississippi after leaving Nauvoo. It must have given them some hope to look back and be able to see the Temple one last time before heading out West.

Nauvoo part 1

We went to Nauvoo for spring break this year. We had lots of fun. I'll post more pictures in a couple of days.

Riley listening to Quinn play DS. The artwork on the ceiling is from Aiden and Will a couple of years ago.

Aiden and Will touching the Mississippi.

The Pioneer Cemetery. Aiden spent most of the time telling us it was creepy.

Resting during our walk on the Trail of Hope.

Through the Eyes of a Three Year Old

Riley likes to climb on chairs and get things she's not supposed to like the camera. Here are some of the pictures she took.

She was playing with the settings on this one.

I Love to See the Temple

They are few and far between, so I wanted to share a successful Family Home Evening that we had tonight. We talked about temples and about being sealed as a family. We then looked at pictures of temples that are significant to our families - the ones we (or other family members) were married in, went to for the first time, etc. For the activity, we built temples out of LEGO blocks and took pictures. The kids had a lot of fun and mommy and daddy were happy because there wasn't much arguing!
Mommy and Riley built a temple for the zoo keeper and his tiger.
Aiden built a slide on his so that Bob could have fun.
Will had a chair for his people to sit in.
Quinn's temple is under construction - they are putting the angel Moroni on!

I liked the lighting on this one!
